Whistleblowing

What is Webropol's Whistleblower?

Webropol Whistleblower is a system that enables you to safely and securely report suspected irregularities within your organization, possible crimes or other violations. When reporting, you can choose whether you want to be anonymous or not. When reporting an event/incident, a unique password is created for you and with the help of it, you can then follow what is happening in the case via a Follow up page and communicate with the case manager. The background to the existence of a whistleblower channel is that the EU decided on a new whistleblower law in October 2019, which provides enhanced protection for those who blow the whistle on irregularities in the private as well as the public sector. The new law, which came into force in Sweden on December 17, 2021, establishes requirements for companies and organizations to introduce an internal reporting system that facilitates and encourages whistleblowing and maintains the whistleblower’s anonymity. The starting point of the law is that reporting should take place internally first.

Conditions that can be reported include:

  • Misconduct of public interest – i.e. not personal conflicts as long as they do not affect more than
    the persons in question.
  • Violations of laws and regulations – e.g. environmental protection, product safety, even more serious violations
of internal rules, principles and codes of conduct may be covered.
  • Violation of EU laws – e.g. (competition law, violation of GDPR legislation)
  • Trade secrets – i.e. acts that constitute a crime or other serious misconduct linked
    to trade secrets.

The protection from the whistleblower law applies to reporting of wrongdoing in businesses that the whistleblower is actively active in, will be or has been active in, such as current, previous or future
employers. This also applies to consultants, hourly employees and contracted personnel.

A personal complaint may be about a colleague’s behavior, feeling unfairly treated, or
that the company has violated employment protection laws. Such complaints do not belong in the whistleblower channel
but should be handled by the HR department.

Should I blow the whistle or not?

  • Do they apply to more than just you?
Is it something that affects others and not just your own situation.)
    Is it serious?
For example, a crime, abuse of power, discrimination or a danger to health.
  • Does it violate the law or important rules?
Not just bad decisions but real misconduct.
  • Has the employer turned a blind eye?
Is the problem ignored even though it has been raised internally?
  • Are you acting in good faith?
You don’t need to prove it, but have reasonable grounds.
